A team of Registered Respiratory Therapists:
- Provides device troubleshooting by telephone support.
- After VEP business hours, urgent device troubleshooting by an on-call Respiratory Therapist is available (24 hr. service)
A team of Registered Respiratory Therapists:
- Provides device education for all new users. This may be done virtually or in-person.
- Consults with clinical specialists across the province, to assess the home ventilation needs of clients are met, both currently and looking towards the future needs of clients.
- Participates in approved research activities.
- Provides device data download reports to physicians.
- Provides professional consults to physicians and other health professionals.
- Reviews device data downloads to support troubleshooting and patient care.
- Coordinates the exchange of equipment as needed for replacement, preventative maintenance or recalls.
- Recovers equipment to be returned to the VEP.
- Assists and guides users to make prescribed parameter changes.
- Directs clients to appropriate services or vendors.
- Develops and implements client, caregiver, and clinician educational materials.
- Involves client representatives to evaluate and make recommendations on relevant educational material.
- Participates in educational initiatives to increase awareness and expertise in the fields of respiratory therapy and home mechanical ventilation.
